While my daily wardrobe consists of rather humble basics, something gets a hold of me when I travel and stumble across vibrant pieces. Since I was a young girl, I would pile on layers of clothes and strap my arm full of costume jewelry just to adorn myself with an imaginary outfit that I was convinced my family actually wanted to see me model. I am sure they could hear the jingle of the coins taped between my fingers as I pretended to be a belly dancer with a finger tambourine. Now at twenty-something, I can’t say much has changed. My husband gets to watch me parade through the living room as I try on my favorite gems from my world travels.Typically, it’s accompanied with twirls of motion as I ramble off the relevant travel tales I’m sure I’ve already shared four too many times.
With so much beauty embedded in every culture, it’s hard to refrain from gawking at fabrics and colors with a bright smile and even a few questions of honest curiosity. I always said to myself, “I will wear this piece when..” and have made a poor habit of never wearing my pieces as much as I promised myself. I’m changing that. Waking up every morning should be fun and if fashion is self-expression, this wardrobe is quite appropriate.
